Cool Apocalypse (2015) - 3 Song Placements in Award-Winning Film

Having spent most of my twenties in Chicago, the city became a big part of who I am and shaped my music accordingly. I recorded The Arrowsics' Ring of Oak EP just before I was moving away, as a kind of testament to the city and my time in the Chicago music industry.

I'm so glad that I did, even though I didn't really have the money for the recording sessions at the time. And I'm even more glad to have some of those songs placed in this fabulous film by independent filmmaker Michael Glover Smith.

The Arrowsics have three songs from Ring of Oak that play almost in their entirety in the film: "My Heart Again" opens and closes, and "Ring of Oak" and "Lost" have prominent placements as well. The band is even mentioned by name at one point in the film: "I have The Arrowsics to keep me company" says one of the protagonists while he agrees to wait in the car for his ex.

Cool Apocalypse opened at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago in November of 2015 and was also awarded "Best Dramatic Feature" at the 2015 Illinois International Film Festival.
